The winery of Marie and Marcel Richaud uses biological steps without the application of agrochemicals in its wine production.
Domaine Richaud works about 54 hectares of vineyards older than 25 years old in the Cotes du Rhone region – in the town of Cairanne near Avignon which is one of the highest quality Villages in this area.
The winery of Marie and Marcel Richaud uses biological steps without the application of agrochemicals in its wine production whereby emphasis is placed on the balance of the earth and soil system which creates the basic fundamental feature of the harmonic development of vines. Precise monitoring of grape ripeness and assessing a proper date for wine picking are very important and Marcel and his enologist Yann Rohel have excelled. The proper moment is very important in the production of natural wines by the Jules Chauvet method. All grapes are picked by hand, individual types and areas separately and during fermentation there is a thorough monitoring of temperature, excess sugar, yeast and bacteria formation and lab tests of all wines are done at least three times per week.
Extra care is taken in the interconnection of individual products responsible for land plots and types of grapes known as “assemblage” in which all of Marie and Marcel Richaud’s talent is directed at the production of original wines fulfilling individual terroirs and years. This is a guarantee of the uniqueness of the tasting of these wines.
